1) START WHERE HE IS
Every kid comes in at a different level. So, learn the basics, review the basics, or skip straight to Part 2.
2) HE READS
Your son reads a lesson, and takes a quiz, on his own. (This should take about 20 minutes.)
3) YOU DISCUSS
You follow up using the Discussion Guide. This is where you answer questions, share your values, and actually have “The Talk.”
4) YOUR SON BURNS OUR HOUSE DOWN
Look, your son does NOT want any mandatory course on a Saturday, hahhaa. He wants to be on a zipline with his friends. But hey -- this stuff is important. So, let’s get it done.
“WHAT’S A WIN?”
This is a parenting tool. So, a “win” isn’t your son loving a mandatory course on a Saturday. A “win” is:
- Covering topics that some schools have to skip
- Helping you, the parent, have "The Talk"
- Getting to your kids before they get to each other
So, if this starts a tricky conversation, and fills a few gaps, CONGRATS. WE DID IT.
“WHERE SHOULD HE START?”
Part 1 – “The Classics” – If your son hasn’t taken Sex Ed, or he needs a little refresher, have him take the full course. (Start on Part 1.)
Part 2 – “The New Essentials” – If your son has taken Sex Ed, and he already knows the classics, skip straight to Part 2.
“MY SON SAID HE LEARNED THIS ALREADY”
Your son might say he already knows this. And he might be right! But nationally, at this age, some schools get a LOT of pushback when they try to include:
- Affirmative Consent (…way, WAY beyond “no means no.”)
- Porn
- Sexting
- Healthy Relationships
- Unhealthy Relationships
- Assault
So, he might just mean he knows some of it, he doesn't feel like doing this, hahhaha, or it seemed like common sense AFTER he read it.
Oh, and when is it time for... stuff? Have they sent any... pictures? What about that person they're seeing? Only a parent can navigate those waters. And this course is here to help.
A QUICK NOTE ON… LET’S JUST CALL IT “SKIMMING”
Not that a kid would EVER consider speed-running this course, hahhaha -- but there’s a very simple, straightforward “Did you read this?” password in each lesson.
So, if they read each lesson carefully, they’ll absolutely nail this part of the quiz. But if they skim the lesson, and wing the quiz, they’ll have to go back and re-read.
PARENTS STAY IN CHARGE
Take a look, and before you show this course to your son, make sure you’re okay with it. If you wanna skip a lesson, or even the whole course, that’s okay, too. Just skip it.
“I’M BUSY. DO I REALLY HAVE TO DISCUSS AFTER EVERY CHAPTER?”
No, absolutely not. But a discussion, even if it’s short, helps you build context, share your values, annnnnd – let’s be honest – makes sure they actually read it.
Some parents want more discussion. Some want less. And for others, the discussion’s the entire point of this thing. But however you show up, it’s cool that you did.

So, yeah. Here we go. Thanks so much for choosing “Comedy Sex Ed.” They might hate it, at first. But hey… they might hate it after that, too. Good luck!
